A discussion was put to the floor at one of the meeting about carving a quilt.  The quilt passed and plans were made.  Wes Englund and Hank Osinski co-chaired quilt project from start to finish. Each square was to be something carved of Rockford building, parks, statue and etc.  The squares are 5 by 5 inches of basswood.

John Bibby chip carved frame and Roger Benedict carved the center with date and etc. The quilt is on display a Klehm Arboretum. The quilt took about two years to complete.  A number of carvers spent a weekend at Midway Village Rockford, IL. dressed in 1890 style clothes carving.  Carving show was held at Ken Rock Community Center.  Dale Hoppe was a featured speaker. He put together a slide show of how Lorado Taft built Blackhawk Statue.  This was held at Rockford Art Museum. Lorado Taft was a sculpture.  Some of his work is in the library and park in Oregon, II. December meeting is Christmas party.  Refreshments and tool swap and etc.
