Youth    Anyone of school age and is limited to two entries in each Youth category of 1) in the round, 2) reliefs, and 3) Miscellaneous.

Novice    A new carver that has limited personal quality demands whereby the judges take this into consideration.

A novice is typical of having minimal experience (preferred to have two years or less experience).

No limit to number of entries.  Novice categories are 1) in the round, 2) reliefs, and 3) miscellaneous.

After Receiving a "blue ribbon" the novice carver drops out of the novice level and must advance to either of the next two levels of his or her choice.

Intermediate    Has automatically advanced to this level based on the Novice's rules, or that the carver feels that he or she is qualified to be in this category by their experience.

May remain in the intermediate level as long as the carver does not feel qualified to move to the next advanced level. However he or she must advance to the next level when three accumulated blue ribbons have been awarded over any time.

Once entered in the intermediate level, can not return to the novice level.

Advance    For serious and accomplished carvers, either amateur or professional, who seek and perform to the highest carving quality.  No limit to number of entries.

Once entered in the advance level, can not enter a lower level.
