MEETING TIMES

We meet twice a month at Kenrock Community Center on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. The third Tuesday night gathering is the business meeting generally with a guest speaker. Next meeting is September 18th.

We also meet every Wednesday mornings at Kenrock Community Center for open carving for members and non-members, which is from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

AUGUST MEETING NOTES

Meeting called to order by Elaine Terrell. At Kenrock Community Center, No minutes from July 17, 2007 meeting. Recording Secretary absent.

Treasurer Report: John Wacker.

Old Business: Carving show at Klehm. Everyone present at the meeting was impressed with the show. We had a little discussion about the show. There are a few items that will need to be address before our August 9, 2009 show: (1.) price tags should be put on all the items donate for raffle. Some of the attendees inquired about buying some of the carvings  (2.) John Wacker is going to talk with Judy Emerson about putting our Wood Carving information in the Go section of the paper as on going trying to get more members.

New Business: The club voted to pay $200.00 holding fee to Klehm for our August 9, 2008 show. John Wacker will go to Klehm and put a deposit down. Also, John will be asking for a contract with Klehm.

Richard Anderson will be contacting River District Cafe to provide food service for show in 2008.

A question was put on the floor about generating more cash flow for our club. Here are some of the suggestions:
Raising club dues. Bob Matthew suggested that we raise the dues to $25.00 a year. Some other suggests a $2.00 raise a year from $18.00 to $20.00. Raising dues was tabled until September meeting. A talk about having some carving classes.
Tony DeVita
suggest that we have them on Wednesday Morning. By doing this we would not be pay for renting of a room at Kenrock. An example of how to generate more money for the club. If the class cost $10.00 add $5.00 to the class with a total cost of $15.00 with the club getting the extra $5.00.  This can also be done on business meeting night

Show and Tell: No show and Tell

Sick Bay: Roger Benedict had open heart surgery on August 17, 2007. Roger wife Paula is keeping Bob Hallstrom in the loop on Roger progress. GET WELL ROGER.

Don Stansfield wife Judy also had surgery. GET WELL JUDY.

Guest Speaker: Bruce Archer a very interesting person. Bruce worked retail and is currently working at UPS. His carving and picture framing keep him busy. His carvings are mostly of faces and busts. The expressions were quite interesting. Picture frame were also very good.
