Midtown Event - July 19
The Midtown Fair was a success. We did soap carving and many children stopped. Many came back. We were never empty. Bob Coleman and Steve Terrill were there the whole day but we had help from Diane Johnson, Martha Fitch , Bunny Nordheim. And Carl Hicks. Plus we got free corn on the cob!

Elgin Country Club July 19
Several of our members did soap carving there. Ray Olson, Bob Hallstrom, Arne Larson, and Denny Neubauer. Thanks for making us look good.

Minutes (July 17th)
The monthly meeting of Blackhawk woodcarvers; July 17th 2013
We were glad to see our vice pres. Bob Mathews on July 31st return after some serious medical issues. He also had a nice wooden machinist box he bid off to lucky bidder Rosalie Wesley.

The meeting opened at 9 a. m. sharp with our Pres. Bob Coleman

Sec. Arne Larsen read the minutes from our June 19th meeting.

John Skaggs, our treasure, gave his report.

Bob Hallstrom spoke briefly about the soap carving show we were asked to attend at the Elgin Golf Club. Which Ray Olson Bob Hallstrom, Dennis Neubauer and myself. It was a great place and a lots of fun.

Bob Coleman thanked everyone for the sympathy card and those whom donated to the Anthony Valdez family memorial.

Donna Wisner gave her petty cash report.

Bernie gave the library report and said everyone should check to make sure all of the video’s checked out will be returned.

The photographer Larry Clark discussed our up and coming soon show and had signs and cards printed out for everyone. Thanks to Tod Wisner and Larry. Clark.

Don Stansfield spoke briefly about the need for help for working our show. He expressed the importance of helping to make the show better.

Chuck Drewes said “I believe we now have 112 member’s active and associated.”

I just wanted to take a minute to tell everyone that members whom you all know who have normally attended our meetings such as: David Arreguin, Lois Bachelor, Nordine Bolstad, Shirlee Calvert, Bob Capion, Donald. Christenson, and Don Clark who moved to Arkansas, Louis Cowan, Judy Deets, Cheryl Delavan Henry Draves, Judy Englund, Nancy Ewald, Bob Govig, James Griparis, Karen Hammarberg, Lonnie Hayes, Herman Hollingsworth, Ron Johnsen, Steve Johnson, Laura Keidaisch, Sharon Knitter, Albert Klingenberg, Clayton Lindscheid, James Maus, Hughing Meier, Linda Mensching, Jayne Pheiffer, Marjorie Simonds, Judy Suit, Lee Thomas, and last of all our John Winter have been missed. Please, those of you whom know these folks and members of our club, please call them if you know them or have done work with them, so we can find out if they are okay, and ask them to come back and visit and or carve with us.

Also at our last meeting, I did observe what I thought was a homeless person wandering around the parking lot and setting up on a bench outside our door. Please let me or one of the officers know about it. So we can notify the school {for the children} as well as ourselves and do lock up and don’t leave valuables in you cars. Still homeless are not thieves. Whomever please tell us about strangers. Thanks.

Arne M Larsen, Secretary
