The President’s Corner
I hope all is well with everyone. Sad news this-morning; Robert Guge, Josh Guge’s father past away.
I Love to see all the new caving's that everyone are doing at the club, we have the best carvers in our group .
Next month is the X-Mas party hope all have signed up for that...

Cherry Valley Library
During the month of December, Blackhawk Woodcarvers will have a display available for their Woodcarvings. Bernie Budzynski is coordinating this effort. Currently he is gathering Christmas Themed carvings from our members for this display.


Christmas Party!
Our Annual Christmas Party will be on December 4th, the first Wednesday of the month. It will be catered (Breakfast Casseroles) and there will be a sign up for a dish to pass. More information will be available at the business meeting in November.

October 16th 2013 Monthly meeting of the Blackhawk Woodcarvers.
9:00 a.m. Pres. Bob Coleman opened the meeting.
9:05 a.m. Sec. Arne M. Larsen read the minutes for the Sept 18th’s meeting.
9:06 a.m. Treasure John Skaggs read the Treasurers Report. We are solvent. He asked for an audit as we have not had one recently.
9:10 a.m. Donna Wisner read her petty cash report and said we had money in the Petty cash.
President Bob Coleman appointed a committee for the election of officers for the woodcarver’s club. Those appointed were Frank Lay, Elaine Terrell, and Gary Lundquist. They will report back for the December Meeting.
Chuck Drewes gave his Membership Report and stated we have a new member Linda Nelson.
There was no New or Old Business. Bob reminded us of the Christmas Party on December 4th. Sign up and more information to come.

Show and Tell for October 16th.


Arne Larsen carved a miniature Halloween house and three pumpkin pins.


Elaine Terrell brought a plaque from the Indian carving in Pecatonica Fairgrounds. The Indian was carved by our member’s and hit by lighting.


Scott Gray showed his Pintail feather he did in Maryland at a weekend workshop. It was bent with heat, woodburned and painted. Very Realistic.

         
Carl Hicks did 4 cane’s, One of Walnut, one of Red Cedar, a Cane with Inlays and one for sale.

       


Bernie Budzynski did 2 pencil colored wood burnings, one of a nature scene and one of a pair of woodpeckers in a tree. He also mounted a “Weatherstone” with instructions.

    
Larry Stenzel presented two nice fish that were woodburned colored and framed.


Richard Prutz did two relief carvings with wood burning and painting. One was of Cardinals for his wife and one of a farm scene with oil crayons.

   
Dave Meyer carved two relief carvings out of basswood, one of Daffodils and a Calla Lilly

  
Carrie Lay had 2 nice gourds. One was Woodburned and painted with acrylics. The other decorated with antlers and beads.


Frank Lay had a bark carving.


Jack Basford did a leaf carving out of Butternut he had laying around.

 
Dan Prutz did a relief carving and painting of a bicycle representing a Chicago Ride called Critical Mass that supports the parks. He also did a Name Tag with Blackhawk Woodcarvers logo and his name.


Louis Jurisch did a turned vase of Myrtle Wood.

A carving friend of Don Stansflield has had an injury and is needing to sell some equipment she can no longer use.
I am selling the following - all in virtually like new condition:
1. TOM BURKE SHARPENING SYSTEM with Extras - $ 325
2. DELTA VARIABLE SPEED SCROLL SAW #40-540 - $150
3. SEARS CRAFTSMAN 31" 2 TRAY UTILITY/SERVICE CART - $50
Package price for all three is $500
These will require local pickup. I am located in Lincolnshire, IL near the intersections of Milwaukee Ave and Route 22.
